Emergency 911 Service

Emergency 911

Administrator: LT Doug Westrick

The County of Cass is proud to operate a 9-1-1 Central Dispatch Center. This is a 24 hour emergency response center to serve the citizens of the County. This central location for dispatching allows the emergency responders to serve you better.

When you call 9-1-1 in an emergency, the system automatically displays the information associated with the land line phone. The name, address, and phone number of the location are displayed. This information helps dispatch police, fire and emergency medical service. All information is confidential and will only be used for 9-1-1 emergencies.

For non-emergencies please call 269-445-1560.

Cass County also has the capabilities to receive 9-1-1 calls from your cellular telephone. If your cellular telephone is GPS equipped, dispatch is able to locate within 100 feet of your location a high percentage of the time. Cellular telephone users, when possible, should always be prepared to give an accurate location or address.

Cass County has also been seeing an increase in the use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). These phone systems do not automatically display caller location. Talk to your provider for 9-1-1 concerns.

Cass County Central Dispatch serves the entire County of Cass and disseminates calls for service to 13 fire departments, 8 emergency medical service agencies, and 7 law enforcement agencies. Other agencies dispatched include Department of Human Services, Animal Control, and the Department of Natural Resources.

In 2008 Central Dispatch received over 20,000 9-1-1 calls. Among these 9-1-1 calls and non-emergency calls, dispatchers sent emergency units for approximately 4,163 ambulance calls, 1,538 fire calls, and 34,073 law enforcement calls. The Central Dispatch Center employs 9 full-time and 2 part-time employees to cover 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
